‘At Home’ Skincare Tools 101.
Many of you have purchased an at home tool for your skin, used it a few times, and now it sits in a drawer. Well, let’s refresh your memory on how best to use these tools, just in case you decide to give it another try.
First, skin should alway be cleansed before use of any tool or treatment.
Micro-current: ( e.g. NuFACE )
Apply a medium-thick, even layer of a serum or gel, like Vitamin E or Hyaluronic Acid; this works as a conductor. Glide over the entire face, at a moderate and consistent speed. 5-20 minutes per treatment.
Steamer:
Apply an even layer of a mask(nutrient or corrective) steam for 5-10 minutes. Gently remove residual mask remaining.
Red Light/Blue Light:
There are handheld versions, domes that sit over your face, plug in masks.. basically, it’s about timing. I’d give it 5-7 minutes per treatment. Not much else to do here.
Guasha, Jade and Rose Quartz rollers: Consider applying a thin layer of face oil first. Tools can be kept in freezer before use. Apply even pressure.
High Frequency Facial Wand:
A medium setting is always best. Choose your preferred attachment, at a consistent pace, glide the over the entire face to stimulate blood flow then lightly spot treat any areas of breakout.
Note: Tools do not produce significant improvement to the skin. Their purpose is to maintain the skins health and youth.
Tips For Skincare Tools
After use, wash your Clarisonic with antibacterial soap and allow to completely dry before next use. If this brush isn’t cleaned properly each time, it harbors bacteria and fungi.
Beauty Blenders or any makeup sponge - please know that after initial use, sponges begin to harbor bacteria and fungi rapidly. This can be avoided by changing out sponges often.
